When ING Bank became the first signature sponsor of the New York City Marathon, all printed and promotional materials and race signage had to incorporate elements of the ING brand into designs already in use by the marathon's organizer, the New York Road Runners Club (NYRR).

The official program of the ING New York City Marathon, which contained information about the race's course and history, the elite runners who were scheduled to participate, and many other facts, figures, and statistics for both runners and spectators alike.

Welcome banners hang high above the Crystal Palace entrance to the Jacob Javits Convention Center for the start of the annual ING New York City Marathon Health & Fitness Expo.

While the Javits Center was undergoing major renovations in 2010, new multilingual banners guided the attendees towards the registration desks and into the exhibition space.

Tens of thousands of marathon participants and other invited guests from all around the world are welcomed into the Marathon Health & Fitness Expo each year.

The marathon finish line area in Central Park prominently displays the logos of all of the major sponsors for the television cameras and sports photographers covering the event.

The official marathon store, Mile 27, opens the day after the race for merchandise, souvenirs, and memorabilia. 

It is almost impossible to capture the scale and grandeur of the event with a single image. During this nine-year period, marathon participation went from about 30,000 to almost 50,000 runners from all corners of the globe.
