For more than twenty years, Acumen has been deploying Patient Capital—investment funds that are backed by philanthropy and prioritize impact—to invest in companies tackling problems of poverty around the world. In this comprehensive 56-page report they shared what has worked, what has not, and where they are headed in the future.

Since 2001, Acumen has deployed $115 million of Patient Capital into 123 companies that have collectively impacted the lives of 381 million people around the globe. This report broke down the numbers by investment sectors, financial instruments, and geographic regions to paint a complete picture of both the challenges they faced and their successes (or failures) in the global marketplace.

This data-driven report was distributed as an Acrobat PDF with all endnotes hyperlinked to their original data sources. The overall design of this report was repurposed to serve as an Adobe InDesign template for future publications produced by Acumen staff from their eight international offices.
